This formula came as a result of a long quest to find essential oils that are sweet, but not floral (like a “berry” scent). After a good deal of experimentation, I concocted this blend, which has a subtle sweetness with a hint of grassiness. Cardamom, the Indian spice is the magic ingredient. Formula #8 is my tribute to Earth Day, as it reminds me of sitting on the grassy hilltop in Topanga for a day of music and sunshine in the spring. by coincidence, it also took me 8 months from that warm spring day to come up with the right fragrance to capture this memory. Elysium Field
So many great stories in Topanga. Right down the street from our global HQ, a well-known (by some) nudist colony called Elysium Field hosted naked volleyball games and barbeques for 40 something years. They closed in 2001, and some private party owns the property, so all you get to see is the gate now. Anyway, I thought this great intoxicating combination of essential oils made a fitting tribute. Laundry Day
After some requests for a fragrance with feminine “sensibilities”, I’ve been playing around with a lavender-based fragrance that has something new to bring to the party. Petitgrain, made from the bark stripped off of the branches of the bitter orange tree, gives this a bit of “tang”, and when combined with the base “sweet” note of oakmoss, makes this a well-rounded and completely unexpected combination. Check it out!

Paula's Shower
Paula’s Oro Blanco shipment arrived safely today in NYC. The citrusy grapefruit and bergamot “aura” still lingers here (from the candle production) in the Topanga house. Paula emailed to tell me she had one of the candles lit in her Carlyle Hotel room in NYC when she checked in today.
