A Bit of California in London and Paris

I'm happy to say that our candles can now be found in one of the best home goods stores anywhere, The Conran Shop. This fall we'll be at their Marylebone and Chelsea locations in London, as well as on Rue du Bac in Paris. 19 Candles will be alongside brands like Cire Trudon, which is especially meaningful to me, considering their Solis Rex candle served as one of my early inspirations.

Letterpress printing of our new labels

I haven't posted in a while, but that doesn't mean that nothing's been going on! Here is one thing. In anticipation of a big order for a client in London, we decided to print our next run of labels using an antique letterpress at a very cool printer in Santa Monica called Church of Type. Lots of interesting things to shoot in that place (and Kevin was nice enough to let me do that). Here are some shots from that press run.

Now at the Jonathan Club

We're proud to now be a part of The Jonathan Club in Los Angeles! The club was founded in 1895, and is one of the top city clubs in the US.

New vintage jar container for 19 Candles

We've made a change! We're retiring our 6 oz. Japanese white teacup. Yes, it has served us well, but we been getting requests for a bigger size candle, so we've designed a unique vintage-inspired stoneware cup. The new candles will burn longer, be cooler to the touch, and are even more unique thanks to a proprietary "cracked" glaze. Modeled after antique marmalade jars, these cups can be reused as coffee mugs, tea cups (or marmalade jars). We hope you like them.

Good Surf in Topanga

A couple of weeks ago we had what we call "epic" surf conditions in Southern California. I shot this on one particularly nice Saturday morning.

Heyoka Hideout in Topanga

Here's some free ad copy from an ad guy:

"Heyoka Hideout, LA's vintage style and boho cool epicenter: A must-visit for the A-list festival crowd."

Anyway, they have my candles there, and I stopped by and took a few pics this weekend. (Oddly enough, I was drawn to the one thing in the store you can't actually wear):

Sacred: a new solid perfume from 19Candles

My friend Rachel at Heyoka Hideout shared "Palo Santo" with me recently. The wood from fallen Palo Santo trees has an amazing woody/spicy aroma, and can be burned like incense. She inspired me to come up with a solid perfume based on this fragrance, and after several weeks of trial and error, I came up with this blend of Palo Santo oil and 3 other essential oils. It's pretty great (if you ask me), and so I combined that with coconut and soy wax, poured into these unique vintage monogrammed silver lockets for a great portable perfume. This limited edition run of 10 lockets will only be available at Heyoka in Topanga. Thanks Rachel!
